Ack! We have a pirate in the house! Take his binky and he may make you walk the plank!
Look what Uncle Mark sent Jackson for his birthday! His very first Red Sox baseball cap! It's a little big, but he still likes it. Go Sox!
Jack has gone from pulling on the kitty, to steamrolling the kitty, to hugging the kitty.
Every time he sees Osiris, he lays on top of him and rests his head on him like a pillow. He stays there as long as Osiris lets him.
Jackson has begun having temper tantrums and full-on crankiness. What a face!
And here he is all calm and sweet. Ah, what a face!

Jackson is really into (or on top of?) his books! Millie Moo continues to be a favorite, as you can see.
He also has a bizarre fascination with Mommy's address book. He never tires of turning the pages and seeing...Mommy's handwriting?
Jack is crazy about waffles. Mommy used to try to eat them herself, but Jackson always HAD to have what was on her plate, so she gave up and just makes them for him now.
This weekend Mommy & Pop picked up a "new" walker off of Craigslist for Jackson. It took only a day for him to master maneuvering this thing all around the house. He starts in the living room, goes down the hall to the art room, turns around, goes to the kitchen and on and on and on...
It's a little tough on gravel and carpets, but Jackson perseveres.
This week Jack had some playgroup/Music Together friends over. We had a great time and everyone loved Jack's toys and books. He wasn't much for sharing, though.

Happy Birthday to Jack! Jackson discovered this weekend that he likes frosting! How did we end up so darn messy? Well, let's see...
"Mmmm...yum! Dad, I like this stuff. Can I have more?"
"You know what? Let's just skip the whole bringing-it-to-my-mouth-with-my-hand thing. That takes way too long!"
"You don't really want me to stop, do you?"
"Aw, yeah, this is the life!"
Lest anyone think Jackson only ate birthday cake, he did also partake in cupcakes...
...with that fun blue frosting...
...and Twizzlers that Jack generously shared with Auntie Jane.
And the gifts were pretty sweet too!

It was a very special first birthday!

Jackson loves to swing! Now that his swingset is up, we've installed his toddler swing and Jackson can't get enough of it. He is so content to sit in it and be pushed for quite a while - nearly an hour the other day. It's got a handy tray for snacks, too.
Jack loves water! He sat on the grass with this little watering can for at least 20 minutes. Mommy kept refilling it for him and he kept pouring it out into the grass, over and over and over...Great fun!
"Fill it again, Mommy!"
Jackson loves bath-time! Tonight the toy of choice was the little scuba diving guy. You wind him up and his legs kick, which Jack finds fascinating. Tonight Mr. Scuba's feet had to touch everything within reach - all the other bath toys, the side of the tub, Mommy's foot that was resting on the tub, and the faucet.
The faucet got the most toe touches tonight.
Some people have asked why Jack's birthday invite says "no gifts." Here's part of the reason. You see that he is literally surrounded by toys and yet what he most wants to play with is a box of tissues. On this day, he pulled out every single tissue one-by-one and then proceeded to shred them into tiny pieces. Thanks Jack!
He also likes to pull out baby wipes from their container. Last night he pulled out half a dozen and then decided the fireplace hearth needed a scrubbing.
Oh, and the fireplace doors also needed to be cleaned.
And here he is taking a break from vacuuming (he really does push this thing back and forth across the floor) to watch the kids across the street.

Toys? What toys?
