Quinton David Cortese arrived unexpectedly, 6 days early, on March 18th. The delivery was smooth and Mommy & baby both did great.

He weighed 6 lbs, 4oz and was 19.5 inches long. When we left the hospital, he was down to 6lbs. At his first pediatrician visit yesterday, he was already up to 6lbs 11oz and had grown .5 inch! Obviously all that nursing is already paying off.
Daddy was once again a great coach for Mommy. When Quin was lying on Mommy's tummy afterwards and Chris spoke to him, Quin immediately turned his head in Daddy's direction. He must have recognized that voice!
Jackson was so excited when his new baby came home that he couldn't help laughing out loud.
He loves to pat the baby's head, touch his face and give him hugs & kisses. So far, Quin doesn't seem to mind, except maybe when he's trying to eat. It can be a little disruptive!
Quin loves to be held more than anything else, though he now naps in his car seat rather nicely, so we just keep it in the living room. He likes being walked around by Grandma after yet another diaper change. Those preemie-sized diapers don't hold too much - he's always soaking right through.
So snug in Pop's arms.
Mommy's got her hands full now (and she's looking a bit tired)!

The Best Day Ever! On Friday Mommy took Jack to the Barrington Fire Department to see the trucks up close!
He spent the first few minutes just running from truck to truck, saying "What's that?!" over and over again. And then he got to sit in one and pretend to drive.
He took to the firemen right away and let them carry him around and show him the flashing lights.
But it never took long for him to want to get back in the driver's seat again.
And then back out to look at the lights...
And then back in. The firemen were very patient and seemed to enjoy Jack's excitement. They said we could come back any time. Woo hoo!
The only way Mommy could get Jack out of the fire station was to promise him that he could touch police cars on the way out.
When we got home, our neighbors were playing outside. They invited Jack in to feed the bunny.
And then he got to play on their trampoline - one of his favorite things in the world.

Does life get any better than this??

Jack loves puddles!
We took advantage of a nice warm day last week to explore puddles and mud.
Jack likes to share his food. No doubt Elmo appreciated this taste of Cinnamon Life cereal.
Grandma visited this weekend and received lots of love from Jackson.
He liked snuggling with her on Mommy & Daddy's bed.
And tickling was fun too!
Whew, all that hugging and laughing is tiring!
When Jack's really excited he does this funny, sort of hoarse laugh. This is what his face looks like when he does it.
Snuggling with Mommy on a Sunday morning.
Look how big this baby is. Jack was 5 lbs 12 oz. Quin will definitely be bigger!

Yes, the camera again!
Jack's attempt to look through the viewfinder. He does manage to take photos this way.
Yay! The flash went off!
Wow, Daddy's new camera phone! Does it get any better than that??
We have important calls to make.
Cousin Kaleb came to visit last week. Jack adored him and spent days afterward walking around the house asking, "Where is he? Where is he?"
Jack's portrait of Kaleb.
Oh, pouty face!
Up close and personal.

Only three weeks till little Quin is due to arrive! We'll keep everyone posted as we near March 24.
