More Family! This Sunday Jackson met his grandfather, Michael Cortese. We took a photo of three generations of Cortese men.

As usual, when we are visiting with people, Jack falls into a deep sleep. Michael and Carol didn't get to see Jack's eyes until right before they left, when he woke up to eat.

Lookin' Cute! Jack and Chris make quite the pair, both napping on the couch with an arm over their heads.

And here are some close-ups taken today of Jack chillin' in his vibrating chair.

Family Photos. Yesterday Bonnie and Renee came to visit. It was Jackson's first time meeting his Aunt Renee. He was very good, mostly sleeping for their entire visit - just like he did in Scituate when meeting Kira's side of the family. But it meant that Bonnie and Renee both got to hold him while he was quiet and not too squirmy.

Bonnie took this nice photo of us - our first family portrait with Jack!

Growing and Growing! We took a trip to the pediatrician's on Friday (a blocked tearduct has caused a little bacterial conjunctivitis - poor Jack!) and found out that Jackson now weighs 7lbs 1oz. How about that??

It probably shouldn't be surprising, considering how much this kid eats! And look at his long legs. He seems very strong - can lift his head up when lying on Mommy's chest and grabs onto an adult's finger with quite the grip.

Here he is sprawled out with Daddy on a Sunday morning.

Grandma time! Grandma Narlee is here for a visit this week. She is very helpful with changing diapers and keeping Jack occupied while Mom takes naps.Jack seems to get bigger every day. It's hard to believe he's already 12 days old! His arms and legs are constantly moving around and his hands get into the cutest positions, like in the photo above. That's his favorite sleeping position, along with his hands up over his head, as if he's lying in a hammock.Does this camera take great photos or what? Here he's gazing at Grandma as we try to stay cool in the only air-conditioned room in the house.

And here is a photo of Jack in his vibrating chair - a gift from Auntie Michelle in NH. When we turn the vibration on, he doesn't seem to know quite what to make of it. But he does sit quietly - until he decides he's hungry, that is.

Jackson meets the Jacksons! On Saturday, Jack took his first road trip. We went to Scituate, MA so he could meet his great grandparents: Phil and Betty Lou Jackson, his Aunt Lori and his cousin Amber. Grandma and Grandpa Narlee were also there.

Below are photos of Jack with everyone. He did very well with being passed from person to person. If only he could have understood the oohs and aahs over his perfect cuteness. He would have been very flattered. Finally home again. It's tiring being in that carseat for over an hour! The best way to recuperate is to snuggle with Daddy and watch some television.

More photos of Jackson! These were all taken yesterday, Jack's 5th day of life.

We are having so much fun with him. He's such a good baby - hardly cries at all. He's not crazy about having his diaper changed and seems to eat constantly. He also seems to respond to Chris's voice, turning his head toward it whenever Chris comes close.

His hands are always wriggling out of the blanket we swaddle around him to help him sleep. Being wrapped in the blanket instantly calms him because it keeps his arms from flailing about - but as you can see in this photo, they do manage to get out and usually go right to his face. He slept in this position for quite a while yesterday. He's so funny.
He was awake yesterday more than he has been since he was born, so we took advantage of it and laid him on the floor on a Pooh blanket. He is drawn to the light coming from the window behind Chris's shoulder. This is how he looks most of the time - wrapped up snug in his portacrib. Doesn't he look so darn tiny? He's our little peanut.

He's finally here!

Jackson Michael Cortese was born at 3pm on Thursday, July 6, 2006. He weighed 5 pounds 12 ounces and was 19 inches long. Kira's contractions began at 5:30am and she began pushing around 2:30pm - not bad!

Chris and Kira's parents (Barb & Dave) were in the delivery room. Chris actually cut the cord!

July 6 was an important day, as it was Chris and Kira's 4th wedding anniversary, as well as the one-year anniversary of the passing of Kira's grandfather, Howard Narlee. Pretty special.

Kira and Jackson came home on Saturday and have been doing very well. Today was Jack's first pediatrician appointment and he passed with flying colors.

The photos here show Jack in his knit hospital hat; a newly born Jack with Mom and then with Dad; holding onto Mom's fingers on the ride home; and a close-up taken today as he sat in Daddy's arms.

We are so happy to have Jack in our lives! We hope you get to meet him soon.
